About Us
Our Story
Art Not Arms was created to address the growing impact of gun violence and the lack of structured programs for young men navigating trauma and high-risk environments. The program provides a court-approved pathway to redirect energy into creativity and skill-building.

Founder Bertrand E. Boyd II,
a Miami-based spoken word artist, educator, actor, and mentor, he has spent over two decades working with youth. Through poetry, storytelling, and filmmaking, he has seen firsthand how mentorship and creative expression can interrupt cycles of violence, build confidence, and open new pathways for young people.
Mission
To empower court-referred youth through mentorship, creative skill-building, and artistic expression. Art Not Arms transforms experiences into creativity, offering alternatives to violence and a foundation for future opportunities.
Purpose
To reduce youth involvement in violence and provide participants with constructive alternatives, skill development, and mentorship. The program blends court diversion requirements with a real creative apprenticeship, preparing participants for personal growth, education, and careers in the arts.
